280: ANOTHER ACTION-PACKED ADVENTURE IS SET TO BEGIN ON APRIL 18th

It’s been over two months since my last trip and I’m anxious to leave my bobble head friends behind and hit the road again. At precisely 4:30am on April 18th, my photographer, his wife, and I will begin our scheduled to be a 16-day journey that will take us into a dozen states where I’ll have the opportunity to visit a countless number of historic and Presidential sites. There’s a chance I might cross paths with a ghost or two as well. Once we return in early May, I will begin to tell our story with a series of posts within the pages of this blog. Are you interested in where we are headed? Here’s a list of some of the sites – just in case you want to meet me in person!

APRIL 18th – Nashville, TN to visit the gravesite of James K. Polk. I will be standing on Polk’s grave at 1:07pm. If you’re the first person to walk up to my photographer and say “Hey, it’s the bobble head guy”, he will hand you $25 in cash.

APRIL 19th – I will tour Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage at 10am and visit Polk’s ancestral home in Columbia, TN in the early afternoon.

APRIL 20th – The three of us will tour the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL in the morning.

APRIL 21st – It’s Talladega baby! That’s right, Tom, Vicki, and I will be in attendance for the Geico 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

APRIL 22nd – We will spend the day walking in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter in and around Plains, GA. That night, I’m spending night in the Presidential Suite where Carter once slept.

APRIL 23rd – After a visit to the State Capitol in Tallahassee, FL, we will watch the Tigers take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in the evening.

APRIL 24th – We make the long drive to Key West. But on the way through the southern part of Florida, we might have an encounter with an elusive Skunk Ape – which is a relative of Sasquatch.

APRIL 25th – The three of us hop aboard a boat and travel 70 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico where we will spend the day visiting Fort Jefferson at the Dry Tortugas National Park. Fort Jefferson was where Dr. Samuel Mudd and three other convicted co-conspirators were imprisoned after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

APRIL 26th – We will see several sites on Key West, including President Harry Truman’s Little White House before we head to the mainland in the late afternoon.

APRIL 27th – After an early morning air boat ride in the Everglades, I will get my first opportunity to see President Donald Trump’s home Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, FL. The three of us will spend the afternoon and night at the home of our good friend, Tom McGrew, in Melbourne, FL.

APRIL 28th – After arriving in St. Augustine where we will visit a handful of Presidential sites, the three of us will transform into Ghostbusters for a Dark of the Moon Ghost Tour at the St. Augustine lighthouse, which is reputed to be haunted.

APRIL 29th – We will spend most of the day in the city of Savannah, GA where I’ll pay my respects at the grave of D of I Signer Button Gwinnett. Savannah is also host to a handful of Presidential sites as well.

APRIL 30th – Augusta, GA will occupy our morning and I’m excited to tour the boyhood home of Woodrow Wilson. In the afternoon, the three of us will visit the Capitol Building in Columbia, SC. We will also revisit Andrew Jackson’s birthplace site where we had a possible Sasquatch encounter in 2020.

MAY 1st – We will be in and around Charlotte, NC, which is the hub of NASCAR. Our goal is to tour the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway and visit Hendrick Motorsports, all before we watch some dirt track races at the Millbridge Speedway later that night.

May 2nd – After a noon visit at the Capitol in Charleston, WV, we will spend the afternoon with a brief tour of the Serpent Mound State Memorial near Peebles, OH.

May 3rd – The final stop is at The Spot in Sidney, OH where George W. Bush had lunch in 2004. Following our lunch, we should be home around 4:17pm.

I’m sure I’ll have some amazing stories and fantastic photos to share once we return. My biggest goal is to get home in one piece. And lastly, if you see us on the road or at one of the amazing sites on our agenda, please stop by and say “Howdy!”

Thomas Watson

My name is Thomas Watson and I've been a U.S. history fanatic since I was 9 years old. In 2013, I decided to take my passion to the next level when I purchased a Thomas Jefferson bobble head with the sole intention of photographing that bobble head at Presidential sites. From that first day on July 10, 2013 at Spiegel Grove in Fremont, Ohio, this journey has taken on a life of its own. Now, nearly 40,000 miles later, I thought it was time to share the experiences, stories, and photos of Jefferson's travels. Keep in mind, this entire venture has been done with the deepest respect for the men who held the office as our President; no matter what their political affiliations, personal ambitions, or public scandals may have been. This blog is intended to be a true tribute to the Presidents of the United States and this story will be told Through the Eyes of Jefferson. I hope you enjoy the ride!
