Bob Moldenhauer and Thomas Watson at the gravesite of Signers William Hooper and John Penn.
In 1991, my photographer and his good friend Bob Moldenhauer embarked on a 17-day trip where their goal was to visit the graves and homes of all 56 Signers of the Declaration of Independence. The pair of historians were armed with two 35mm cameras and a video camera – and now for the first time, you can see their exploits on YouTube. Even though the images and video footage are vintage, you’ll be emerged into the excitement the pair of friends experienced 35 years ago.
Please click on the link below and enjoy the second part of Tom’s series called ‘The Spirits of Independence’. And if you subscribe to the channel, you’ll be alerted when new episodes are released in the upcoming weeks and months. There’s no better way to celebrate America 250 than to watch Tom and Bob’s tribute to the brave Signers of the Declaration of Independence. The show is quirky, vintage, and at times funny, but it will be one you won’t soon forget.
Thank you for reading this blog post and I hope you enjoy my photographer’s YouTube show.
My name is Thomas Watson and I've been a U.S. history fanatic since I was 9 years old. In 2013, I decided to take my passion to the next level when I purchased a Thomas Jefferson bobble head with the sole intention of photographing that bobble head at Presidential sites. From that first day on July 10, 2013 at Spiegel Grove in Fremont, Ohio, this journey has taken on a life of its own. Now, nearly 40,000 miles later, I thought it was time to share the experiences, stories, and photos of Jefferson's travels. Keep in mind, this entire venture has been done with the deepest respect for the men who held the office as our President; no matter what their political affiliations, personal ambitions, or public scandals may have been. This blog is intended to be a true tribute to the Presidents of the United States and this story will be told Through the Eyes of Jefferson. I hope you enjoy the ride!
