232: I SURVIVED A MEET & GREET WITH A FAKE FAN BEFORE STARRING IN MY VERSION OF ‘THE TRUMAN SHOW’!

Last week, Harry Truman and I were held in the hands of self-proclaimed blog fan Earl McCartney while he visited my photographer and me at our home.

In 1998, actor Jim Carrey starred in ‘The Truman Show’ where he portrayed Truman Burbank, an ordinary guy who had unknowingly lived his entire life on a popular reality TV show.

In 2021, I became a TV show star as well when my photographer exploited my Presidential adventures on a popular show called ‘Hail to the Chief’. Five days ago, our version of ‘The Truman Show’ on HTTC was released by GBS Media studio. While Tom and I don’t pay homage to Truman Burbank on our show, our latest episode does honor the life of our 33rd President Harry S Truman.

Being a celebrity is not easy for a famous bobble head like me. Last week, a ne’er-do-well named Earl McCartney visited our home where he and my photographer watched a NASCAR race, talked politics and conspiracy theories, and ate chicken wings and baked beans. During his visit, McCartney made a claim that he’s been a regular reader of this blog, as well as a consistent viewer of our show ‘Hail to the Chief’. He even went as far as to verbally boast he’s my number one fan. However, when Earl held me in his right hand for a photograph, I could easily tell his alleged fandom was a ruse. McCartney was surprised to see all of the “battle scars” I’ve acquired during my 60,000 miles of nation-wide travelling; scars that have been well-documented in dozens of posts within this blog. Then, I looked over to my friend Harry Truman, who was clasped tightly in Earl’s left hand. When Harry and I made eye contact, Truman was shaking his head as if to say “No, this man is an exaggerating conman who would try to sell a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card to Donald Trump.” But at the end of the day, it didn’t matter – even with Earl’s greasy fingerprints all over my bandaged legs. Maybe, just maybe, by him meeting me in person and posing with me for a photo, that experience will help provide Earl the incentive he needs to actually read my posts instead of fabricating well-rehearsed lies like he’s done for the past four years.

Tom and I think you will enjoy ‘The Truman Show’ and we’ve provided a link to the episode at the bottom of this post. Please do us a favor and share our show, as well as our blog, with your friends on social media. The two of us do not make a single penny from any of our endeavors, but we do love sharing our stories with the world – and we need your help.

Today, I am a little over a month away from my next big adventure – a Presidential trip with my photographer and Bob Moldenhauer where the three of us will visit some of the New England states on our Presidential quest. I’m certain the stories about our trip will not come up short on excitement due to our usual covert operations and my behind-the-scenes exploits to go where no bobble head has gone before.

Thank YOU, my amazing viewers, for watching our show and for reading this blog. And if you happen to talk to Earl McCartney, please mention to him that he’s missing out on a special post. When it comes to being my number one fan, McCartney is a legend in his own mind.

Thomas Watson

My name is Thomas Watson and I've been a U.S. history fanatic since I was 9 years old. In 2013, I decided to take my passion to the next level when I purchased a Thomas Jefferson bobble head with the sole intention of photographing that bobble head at Presidential sites. From that first day on July 10, 2013 at Spiegel Grove in Fremont, Ohio, this journey has taken on a life of its own. Now, nearly 40,000 miles later, I thought it was time to share the experiences, stories, and photos of Jefferson's travels. Keep in mind, this entire venture has been done with the deepest respect for the men who held the office as our President; no matter what their political affiliations, personal ambitions, or public scandals may have been. This blog is intended to be a true tribute to the Presidents of the United States and this story will be told Through the Eyes of Jefferson. I hope you enjoy the ride!
