Franklin D. Roosevelt became paralyzed at the age of 39, just when his political career was about to explode. But instead of giving up, FDR strengthened his body and overcame his disability to lead our nation through some of its darkest times – even though he had difficulty standing upright by himself. There were times during his Presidency when Roosevelt was in discomfort as he was being lifted in or out of automobiles or struggled with his ungainly leg braces. While FDR’s disability was part of him for the final 24 years of his life, he never let it define who he was.
Earlier this week, the fine folks at GBS Media Studio in Port Huron, Michigan published another episode of our show ‘Hail to the Chief’ where my photographer and I paid tribute to one of the greatest Presidents in American history – Franklin D. Roosevelt. Over the past nine-plus years, Tom and I have visited a lot of sites associated with our 32nd President. So many sites, in fact, we wanted to present our tribute in two parts to help keep our audience rivetted. The link below will lead you to Part 2 of our FDR show.
Tom and I hope you will share the link to that show with your friends on social media, and please leave a comment – all you need to do is scroll down to the comment section on the site, which is located below the show.
My photographer and I have some exciting news to share with y’all. First, we will be headed to the studio to record our tribute to President John F. Kennedy on May 11, 2023. The two of us believe it will be our finest show yet and it just might be the best episode in our entire series of ‘Hail to the Chief’. JFK will be one you surely won’t want to miss. And second, our first major Presidential trip of the year will start on June 4th. For eleven days, I will be headed out with Tom and Bob Moldenhauer where we plan on visiting a plethora of Presidential sites all around the New England area. I can’t wait to hit the road again with those two – as long as they keep me out of jail.
Thank you for visiting and for sharing our blog, and our show, with your friends on social media. Tom and I love sharing our stories and photos with everyone interested in Presidential history.
