149: JEFFERSON HAS A NEW SHOW – ‘HAIL TO THE CHIEF’

Before we began recording our first show, I looked around the GBS Media studio with two friends I brought with me – Jimmy Carter and James K. Polk

On August 2, 2021, my photographer and I travelled to the GBS Media studio in Port Huron, Michigan to record the first of what we expect to be a fun and exciting series where we share our Presidential adventures and stories. The show is titled ‘Hail to the Chief’ and it will feature my sidekick, Tom, sharing photos of me while he tells unique and heartfelt stories about each Presidential site. You will hear about some of the interesting people we met along the way; as well as some of the crazy things that happened to me as well. Our first show, which was hosted by Michelle Mensinger and was posted on the website on August 20th, was an introduction to the series. In that first episode, Michelle conducted a one-on-one interview with Tom where they discussed ‘Hail to the Chief’ and what the audience will hopefully come to expect in the future. That intro also gives the audience a chance to meet Tom and me; and they’ll learn how he became interested in the Presidents so many years ago.

While our new show is a new media platform for us, it will not replace the ‘Through the Eyes of Jefferson’ blog. Instead, it will bring our stories to life in a different way. Our hope is that both the blog and our show will draw a huge audience where the two of us can share our mutual admiration for the Presidents of the United States. The ‘Hail to the Chief’ series will start with George Washington and it will continue in numerical order through Joe Biden, our current President.

If the link doesn’t work well, you can find our show at bluewaterhealthyliving.com and search for ‘Hail to the Chief’. Please leave feedback comments and let us know you visited by smashing the thumbs up button. Like the blog, it’s entirely free; and we don’t make a dime from any of this. My photographer and I do this because we love to share our passion for the Presidents with the world.

‘Hail to the Chief’ is presented by Blue Water Healthy Living and is sponsored by The Grant Smith Health Insurance Agency. Take it from my photographer who just turned 65 years old: “When you search for supplemental insurance for your Medicare, search no further than The Grant Smith Health Insurance Agency. Grant’s light-hearted and amazing personality will simplify the burden of finding supplemental insurance and he will find the right, affordable insurance for you. Please trust me on this.”

I wanted to share a few images from our first show. Please take a look at the photos below and then click on the link above to watch us in action. I must say, I think I look a lot better than my photographer!

What a way to start the show – with an image of me in front of the White House!
Michelle Mensinger hosted the first show; she kept it light and made my photographer and I feel at ease in front of the camera.
Does my photographer, the “Presidential Enthusiast”, look relaxed during the interview? Not as relaxed as the four good-looking bobble heads behind him.
Early in the episode, Tom showed the audience a Presidential milk cap from the early 1960s. It was those caps that kick-started his passion for the Presidents.
When I was first introduced to the audience, I admit, it was an amazing feeling. It felt as though I had become a famous TV star! Next stop – Good Morning America!
During our first episode, several images from the blog were shown to the audience; including this one where I met Jimmy Carter in Plains, Georgia.
Near the end of the segment, my photographer finally seemed relaxed once my friends and I shared the spotlight with him.

Thomas Watson

My name is Thomas Watson and I've been a U.S. history fanatic since I was 9 years old. In 2013, I decided to take my passion to the next level when I purchased a Thomas Jefferson bobble head with the sole intention of photographing that bobble head at Presidential sites. From that first day on July 10, 2013 at Spiegel Grove in Fremont, Ohio, this journey has taken on a life of its own. Now, nearly 40,000 miles later, I thought it was time to share the experiences, stories, and photos of Jefferson's travels. Keep in mind, this entire venture has been done with the deepest respect for the men who held the office as our President; no matter what their political affiliations, personal ambitions, or public scandals may have been. This blog is intended to be a true tribute to the Presidents of the United States and this story will be told Through the Eyes of Jefferson. I hope you enjoy the ride!
